Dear Colleagues,
Movement means quality of life. It enables independence, social participation, and an active life into old age. This is precisely what orthopedics and trauma surgery stand for.
Hardly any other specialty accompanies people so comprehensively throughout their lives – from care after severe injuries to the preservation of joints and spine, and the restoration of mobility through modern reconstructive procedures and endoprosthetics.
With an aging yet increasingly active society, the importance of our specialty is steadily growing. At the same time, scientific advancements, new technologies, and innovative treatment concepts open up possibilities that were barely conceivable just a few years ago. Our goal remains unchanged: to keep people moving or to get them moving again.
Therefore, the German Congress for Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2027 is held under the motto
“Our field of expertise. On the move.”

This motto describes the development of our specialty as well as the people for whom we work. It stands for progress and responsibility, for innovation and experience, for science and care. Above all, however, it stands for the common task of maintaining and improving the quality of life of our patients.
The DKOU 2027 aims to create space for new ideas, scientific exchange, and personal encounters. Together, we want to discuss how we can shape the future of orthopedics and trauma surgery and what contribution our specialty can make to the health of our society.
We look forward to welcoming you to Berlin in October 2027.
